Batman or Iron Man: Who is richer? Written by: Akanksha Negi

A perfect blend of wealth/riches and superpowers is what makes a superhero the most appealing to its audience. As superpowers are a prerequisite to being a superhero, wealth is not just an add-on to the traits of our favourite leads but also advances their desirability. It’s not hard to find a superhero with the perfect amalgamation of wealth and superpowers while having plenty of characters to pick from.

In this context, two superheroes definitely stand out amongst the rest. We’re talking about Marvel’s Iron Man and DC’s Batman. Both epitomize extraordinary levels of intelligence and fortune in their respective leagues. Unlike many superheroes, Iron Man and Batman do not possess any supernatural powers yet they managed to make it to the list of superheroes with the help of money for putting up with their heroic acts. As the most iconic characters in the Marvel and DC comics, these two superheroes seem even in all references. From financing their heroic stunts to the cost of making those high-tech fancy costumes and a means to help the needy, fortune is one major factor in outlining the difference between the two when it comes down to finding the wealthier hero. As far as the net worth is concerned, Iron Man takes the lead with an estimated value of $100 billion leaving behind Batman with an estimate of $80 billion net worth. Thanks to the family-owned business, Iron Man aka Tony Stark seems quite ahead of Batman. Born into the Stark family, Iron Man inherited family possessions and worked on expanding them further. Tony Stark, in the comics, is stated as the son of a wealthy businessman and weapon manufacturer Howard Stark thus claiming his right to family business and other assets. Growing up in luxury combined with his intelligence and deeper understanding of technology helped him garner loads of money and success. Batman a.k.a. Bruce Wayne has a net worth of $80 billion. Sharing a similar scenario as Iron Man, he has inherited most of his wealth from family treasure. As the CEO of Wayne Enterprises, Bruce Wayne acquired the inheritance from his father, Thomas Wayne who was a well-known surgeon and philanthropist. It couldn't have been any less as even his mother, Martha Wayne, was an heiress of one of the wealthiest families in Gotham City which ultimately added to Wayne’s overall wealth. What distinguishes Wayne Enterprises is its diversity in various sectors. Apart from its main focus on technology, it lays equal emphasis on a wide variety of categories including the health and manufacturing sector, trade and welfare foundations. Now come the complementary possessions that add up to the wealth of our heroes. As we know, both Iron Man and Batman are tech geeks and have vast stretched empires in the same sector; we encounter a direct comparison here. While Stark Industries has direct involvement in the defense industry, it just seems one of the many domains of the Wayne Enterprise. The Stark Industries are a major contributor in defense when it comes to ammunition. Moreover, combined with the intellect of Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man, we also observe great advancements in the tech sector alongside. Henceforth, it won’t be incorrect to say that Stark Industries basically carry out all sorts of deals involving technology and ammunition adding great worth to its market value and fortune to its assets. Wayne Enterprises has a comparable situation here. Being the successor of Wayne Enterprises, Bruce Wayne owns somewhat around 57 per cent shares as his enterprises have various divisions including transportation, construction, biotechnology, aviation, automobile, etc, defense being one of the domains.Moving ahead, a similarity can be seen in the use of technology and tech equipped costumes that Iron Man and Batman carry. Iron Man’s personalized and variation specialized suits make a perfect blend of style and technology suited to tackle all kinds of scenarios. Not to forget, Vision was also one of the creations of Iron Man apart from the AI assistant Jarvis. Contrarily, Batman seems to focus more on his combat skills than paying off for tech evolution. Having more of his expenditure on modification and specializations in his suits and technologies, Iron Man clearly seems to have more than enough wealth to utilize in technological advancements while still maintaining the topmost position of Stark Industries in the marketplace.
